News Index: System News   <<  Page 1 of 7  >>  July 31, 2009 Sad News Chatropolis is deeply saddened to announce that its founder and owner, Michael Ludwick, has died at the age of 45 after a prolonged battle with illness. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia and daughter Hillary, as well as his mother Yvonne. Michael will always be remembered as a kind and generous individual who gave freely to those in need and was passionate about his work. Although still in the grieving process, we are currently assessing how to continue Chatropolis in the absence of Michael's daily attention and care. We know for certain that he wished the chat community to be able to go on connecting as they have over the decade he devoted to them via Chatropolis, and are committed to keeping his work and memory alive. Our thanks go out to all of the users who made Chatropolis what it is, and rest assured that the site will go on after this tragic loss. Sincerely, Chatropolis Management  July 08, 2009 Erotic Power Exchange We've been lacking in our BDSM section and mostly that's because it's not really geared to people that enjoy/live the lifestyle. We will be renaming the BDSM section The Erotic Power Exchange and renaming almost every room. With completely new actions. I've been reading up on this to be able to make proper actions and a good variety of names but to be honest I am learning from scratch. To bring the section up to par I will need lots of help. If you are involved in the lifestyle and have ideas or just want to riff off an email about what you think please do so. We need room names, descriptions,actions,entry messages (default) and anything you can think of. If you have any input please email mludwick[at]interfun.net with anything you think would help. I have enough ideas now for adding/changing the other sections but I really want to get this one right.  June 26, 2009 Help We Need Additional Room Names I want to add 30-40 new rooms and after 15 years I'm kinda empty. I need New names,descriptions and actions. Rooms that you would call home or visit every day. This week we will change rooms that are considered dead and add an additional 30 rooms minimum. Hopefully the net result will be less empty rooms and rooms that appeal to a broader audience. I really need your help so email mludwick[at]interfun[dot]net with all the information possible. For now I am gonna rack my brain for names but hopefully I will get the help I need to improve Chatropolis to be a better adult chat site than iit already is. Thanks in advance for your help.  June 23, 2009 Underground Get's It's Own Server It's always been a concern that the underground with it's 100 visible and 150 non-visible rooms would impact the rest of Chatropolis. Unfortunately it takes as much system resources (almost) to have an empty room as one with 25 users in it. That's why for 3 months we halted the sale of Underground rooms so we could re-open when we had enough resources to add any new features. Well all that is over now because the Underground has it's own beefy server able to handle 1000's of rooms. The server was officially online two days ago but because of DNS propagation you are probably only now noticing the lightning speed of assets located on the Underground. We hope this improvement will encourage people to take the plunge into becoming a Chatmaster with a room of their own. I'm looking forward to seeing the creativity of of room owners blossom.  June 18, 2009 Chatro Sets New Record We have been spiraling up in numbers every since we have been replacing old hardware. We have finally gotten to the point were we have enough chatservers running fast CPU's (Intel QuadCore) with 8GB of memory each. Effectively we have 12 CPU's where only four used to do the work. Added to that is an 8 fold increase in RAM. So all this week the number of users online has been building. Yesterday, Wednesday, which historically has never been our hottest day we had 1996 users online. The 5 minute average appears on this page as 1985. With a new server for the Underground coming online today or by the weekend numbers should continue to rise.  June 15, 2009 New Server Boosts Room Occupancy Do to the new chat servers we are playing at setting some rooms to 45 users. This is to test performance and see if the overall site should be upped to a number between 25 and 45 non-member Occupancy. I have a feeling that rooms over thirty might become too busy to be fun but I'm gonna rely on user feedback for that. Also a large part will depend on user support in the form of memberships to see if it makes sense. Unfortunately we have bills to pay,paycheks to sign and it is supported 90% by members. So if your not a member and you see one you might want to say thanks. They pay for your access here. As usual I'd like to thank our members for their support so we can develop new software, new hardware and the unmetered 100Mbit Rack that holds our servers.Without them we could not accomplish everything we have during the last 15 years of service. 15 years, Jeeze where does the time go. It seems like only yesterday we were 4 rooms without a domain name and my whole office was constantly saying "It will never work". Well we all proved them wrong. Thanks for all the support thru all the years and I look forward to being a 75 year old web master (I'm only 45 now).  June 14, 2009 Can't Get In Rooms on CS10? If you are having problems getting into chat rooms on CS10 there is an easy fix. We just replaced it and the IP is different. To cure the problem simply DELETING your cookies and restarting your browser. If you continue to have problems you may have to wait until your ISP updates the information. Feel free to call support for help. UPDATE If your not getting into the right room replace http://cs10.chatropolis.com/enter/lava_lounge with http://216.65.23.100/enter/lava_lounge using the IP of the new machine instead of cs10.chatropolis.com. Several people are lost on the old server but most people don't have to worry about this.  June 12, 2009 30 New Rooms to be Added With the 2 additional servers coming online soon we are looking for name/themes for 30 additional rooms. If you have any subjects lets us know. We are looking for room names,descriptions and why you think it would be popular. If you use any of these please hit the "Bookmark" button on the left and add us to Facebook or tweet about us on Twitter. Myspace,Digg,StumbleUpon or any service listed can help too. Currently we are doing over 15,000 Bookmarks and Tweets. We want to see with your help if we can get up to 50,000 in the next week. You guys have a lot of power on the net. When I asked you to visit a friends site "H.R. Masters Erotic Photo Art" You guys hit him so hard his ISP had to reset his counting software. So if we can get these bookmarks in these Social bookmarking and microblogging services I'll be able to add 30 rooms. BTW 2 additional chatservers arrived today and are being setup. It all helps.  May 18, 2009 Get Adult Chat Priority Access Simply download "SPARKY" and you will get into rooms easier. Ever see a room with 24 users and someone beats you. Well if you have The Alexa toolbar installed you get priority. The software is a 2 minute download and you hardly notice it on your browser. When you click the link it opens in a new window and you can just go to one of our adult chat rooms and have priority over non-alexa/sparky users.
