Hello all,
Contrary to popular belief, things are not as bad as they seem. Forget what you have heard, forget what you have gossiped about, and forget what you choose to believe or thought was accurate about Chatropolis. I have heard all, in passing, all kinds of stories, gossip, made up non-sense, and half truths since things went awry in June. I'm here to tell you that 50 to 100 percent of what you know or think you know is wrong. Yes there may be some truth in what you have heard or have spread to others, but I am pretty sure no one has it 100% correct. I cannot blame you all. With no communication, you have to fill in the blanks the best way you can.
Now on to the truth, and I will keep this short and sweet. Chatropolis has not been abandoned and is still being monitored. I have been spending the past two months redoing a few things and getting organized to better help you all. I'm sure some will disagree and not all will like every decision I make but I know I cannot please everyone. For now I'm only going to focus on the present and future and not the past.
Present:
- Restored ChatroSAFE so our proxy is working again for general members.
- Restored the Avatar section for members to store their avatars. It still is temporary but the maximum file size was changed from 25 KB to 300 KB. If I find that it causes performance to suffer on the server. Hundreds of members with a possible 300KB avatar could slow things down so I'll keep an eye out on performance thereafter but it has not been a problem so far.
- Redid the bottom frame with more familiar and useful hot links.
- Updated the FAQ section with more pertinent facts that are more applicable to the present (a lot of old and unuseful facts previously). Please read the FAQ in regards to the infamous white chat screen before complaining about Chatropolis being busted.
- Created a Help Desk to assist with technical and billing related issues as necessary.
- Set both cs10 and cs12 to reboot daily at 6am ET, 3am PT, 11am GMT in order to clear out dead sessions and free up resources for the upcoming day (sorry folks that are currently connected at the time, it's a pretty quick reboot and is intentional).
- Updated the Rules page to include more current concerns from users that have been major issues for quite a while that I will be taking a stronger stance on from now on.
- Created 16 new rooms listed below to either expand on or freshen up some current room themes. These rooms will be on a probationary trial period for 6 months to see if they are well received. If not, back to the drawing board and those rooms will be removed and may be replaced with other themed rooms.

Future (and hopefully good news):
- Will be restoring moderator access in order to keep Chatropolis respectable.
- Have reconfigured and set up the Moderator application page for those members that wish to become a Moderator. Only fully filled out applications will be considered. The previous moderators may reapply but with a fresh start, so will be the Moderator positions as well.
- Will be restoring the Gor rooms having gotten some research on popular room titles that far exceeded the previous room titles of the past. A bonus, members that are UBars or leaders of a certain area will be able to purchase moderators slots for the areas to which they manage so those Gor areas have local moderator coverage. Details being finalized.
- Will be restoring the Fantasy/Roleplay rooms. I am looking for some popular roleplay or fantasy ideas as I am a bit out of touch as to the hot themes.
- Will be looking for room theme ideas from users, member or non-member. Popular themes may get a room added for a trial period to see if they truly are popular. Please do not submit ideas that are self serving i.e. a room theme that you and a few friends may use regularly but no one else could care less about that theme. I know you all have heads on swivels so you know what you like and what others do too, talk amongst yourselves.
So not so short but pretty sweet, give or take a few detracters. I apologize for the long communication black out but as you can tell I have been busy trying to prepare for this day. I'll keep you up to date as things come up. I'm just here to fix stuff and make sure things don't break so I'm going back to doing what I do.
