I guess we will wait 4 years till they can reach the west coast of the U.S. to do a damn thing.  July 01, 2009 ONCONTEXMENU Now Filtered because of Child Pornagraphy I know we have thousands of people using the oncontextmenu directive to protect your avatars. Unfortunately people posting Child Pornography have caught on and we have had to disable this feature. I guess the previous article about a Chatro user facing 10 years in jail has kicked up the paranoia level. Unfortunately what people thought was protecting their AV's (And it did to a very low level) was discouraging Child Pornography reports from legitimate users. If it's of any consolation oncontextmnenu was really not protecting people from stealing your av's. anyone that knows how images are displayed on a page can grab your AV. Unfortunately it was slowing down some of our most dedicated eyes on the site and we just can't have that. We are sorry for the inconvenience and hope you understand.  June 29, 2009 Chatro Member Facing 10 Years Most people don't know but when we get a Child Pornography complaint we evaluate it then pass it on to A Division of Homeland Security to a Secret Service Agent. Usually we just send the information to a special email address and that's that. Sometimes we get additional questions. Today I received a call from ICE a department within U.S. Customs and found out that A case was in progress against one of our members. Although I don't know if he is being prosecuted for any activity here you can read the Horrible crimes he is accused of. If found guilty he faces 10 years. So keep the reports coming. Due to the filters on Yahoo we can not respond to yahoo email address but get them just fine. You can be assured the reports are getting attention. If your yukking it up thinking posting illegal images has no consequence just read the article at the link above. Also in prison child pornographers or anyone that hurts kids are looked down upon by the worst of the Murderers. You will make lots of friends and usually you will be greeted from behind.  June 25, 2009 Michael Jackson Dead by massive pounding of bad Karma Well ding dong the king of Pedophilia is dead. I call him the king because paying a kid 30 million dollars not to file charges has to be a record. I was never a fan of the king of grabbing his nuts and perfecting feminine sounds. I do feel sorry for his family they had to love him no matter what he did. All those years of picking up his nose and watching his skin change like the pantone color chart. Really it's amazing his father did't have a heart attack first. I read about a hundred posts on the event and it was about 50/50 between people that hated him and those that idolized him. Only serious people need apply.  June 13, 2009 New Chat Server Up The replacement for CS10 is up and running. This should increase capacity by 500 users. Unfortunately everyone had to get bumped to make the change. The server is filling up slowly because of thenew IP so some users may not be able to find it on the first try. But it should start resolving rather quickly to the new IP. The new server is somewhere around 6X faster than the old one. Next week we will be replacing the Underground server. The underground has been growing rather rapidly and the new machine will allow us to ad new features like boards and blogs. Maybe even a few things not seen before. We are thinking of allowing UG room owners to define their own domain name. This will take a lot of work but I think we can pull it off.  June 08, 2009 Crash, Bang #$%&&%^&*&+ Today at about 3:45 CST we had a rush of users. Since December we have been kind of limiting the amount of users to 1800 or so by removing rooms. We did this to keep the system stable while we replaced every piece of hardware down to the cat 5 cables. For whatever reason, an article, a mention on a major site or the whole planet just got bored at the same time we overloaded. Our users online stopped working at 1913 as we continued to climb way ,way into the mid 2K area. This forced a system wide reset. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for everyone that called. We happened to get another hardware delivery on Friday and are configuring the new machines to add to the chatservers as I am writing this. So after we have the additional servers I plan on adding more rooms and letting go full blast. We should be good for up to 3K users online with the added hardware. Once we get 3000 users online I don't think I want us to get any bigger. Chatro has been home for 100,000's of people for years and if it goes to 10,000 users online I fear we may lose that "Home" feel. I like it that I recognize people and attribute that to much of our success. If anyone feels differently please let me know. Ultimately everything we do is by user request. For 15 years users have been guiding the development of Chatropolis and I don't plan on changing that.  May 31, 2009 chAtlantis.com Acquired by Chatropolis A lot of users can remember back when there was a site called Chatlantis. I loved the name of the site and just thought it was one of those names that would give you such a leg up in chat that you couldn't lose. I bought the domain because the trademark is canceled and it can be used worry free to run a chat site out of it. Also there is traffic on the domain and I'm sure it has a fair amount of users that will come back to it. So why did chAtlantis chat sink faster than the Titanic. Well nobody knows for sure but I did give the owner a ton of advice on how to theme it. She went the other way. Huge graphics,only role playing and a very strict Terms and Conds on use. At 45 I don't think I have the energy to make another Chatropolis but I do have some ideas. I would also be wiling to lease/sell or partner on the project. Right now I see it as a video only site. But time will tell and I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do with it.  May 22, 2009 Upload sites and the message filter After doing an analysis of where most kiddie porn is posted from a pattern emerged rather quickly. Sites like imagevenue.com that allow quick upload and removal are the most popular among Pedophiles. So for obvious reasons when we get reports of kiddie porn that was posted and it's from a site that requires no registration we will ban the site. Only sites that require a registration process or sites like G-Pic.com where we have a relationship where we can get information and quick resolution will end up being allowed. Yesterday a woman accused us of not taking action. I can assure you we do and we have been instrumental in putting these criminals in a nice room provided by the Federal Govt for very long terms. We have even developed a relationship with the Secret Service's Cybercrimes unit to the point of having personal cell numbers and the ability to make reports by email that get very quick attention. Personally I think the only cure for Pedophiles is lead poisoning. Preferably by a 165 grain .40 cal COR-BON DPX hollow points. I'd even carry out the task and pay the 4 dollars a round they cost.  May 10, 2009 Is The News Really the News I can't figure out the news. Probably because some years back the CIA bragged they had an executive in every news agency in the country. I forget the name of the op but I always thought the CIA couldn't play in our back yard. Seems anyone is doing anything they want nowadays. So today as usual I was looking at Google trends. It tells you what is being searched the most and when. Evidently there was a golf tournament and some guy named Henrickson won so that was there. I'm not a golf fan. I put it somewhere between watching paint dry and and cheating at Solitaire. Another hot subject was "white phosphorus". A military munition that burns like a sun of a bitch. Evidently some kids got into some in Iraq. What baffled me is on TV it's terrorism and the shitty economy. Constantly So much so I can't bear to watch it. You would think if this was worthy of so much attention it would make the google top 50 on any given day. Nah, nope,nada nobody gives a shit. I figure it's to keep our boys in Iraq and to make Obama look like a hero if he does anything remotely helpful. Remember Obama's chant "Change,change,change" maybe our new President was asking for some spare change because he sure as hell isn't doing anything. Now it's we have to make the changes to help him. Then why if fucks name did we elect him. Ya might as well as elected a cardboard cutout.Can you say no second term.
